We manage many auto injury cases in in our Noblesville office, and a widespread symptom we see in our patients is shoulder pain. Why is shoulder pain such a common problem after an auto collision? How can chiropractic care help you get better?

There are at least two different ways that you can get shoulder pain after an accident: by direct trauma to the shoulder joint or by referred pain from the neck.

Direct damage can be caused by striking your shoulder on a hard surface in the car during the impact, or can occur if you have a tight grip on the steering wheel during a rear end impact. With this type of trauma, you'll usually be aware of the pain shortly after the wreck.

More frequently, Dr. Dahlager finds that shoulder or arm pain doesn't immediately appear after a collision, but starts a few days or weeks after the accident. This type of shoulder pain actually starts in the cervical spine. Injured muscles or ligaments in your neck can squeeze nerves in your neck, causing numbness, tingling, or pain in your shoulder, elbow, or wrist.

We've treated both types of shoulder problems in our Noblesville office. This treatment involves chiropractic adjustments to restore your spine's natural mobility and exercises that strengthen your neck and shoulder.

Dr. Dahlager is here in Noblesville to help you recover from shoulder pain. We've been helping patients since 1991 and we can probably help you, too. The first step is to get an accurate diagnosis to determine what's causing your pain and then we will determine an appropriate treatment approach.
