We have helped many people in Westfield, Cicero, Lapel, Fishers and Carmel, IN over the years who were afflicted with back problems, and some of those patients had been diagnosed with a bulging disc. Previous studies has demonstrated that chiropractic care can be an excellent way to relieve the pain of disc herniation in the lumbar spine and other researchers have shown that it can relieve herniations in the cervical spine, too.

Now a new case report improves our knowledge of the benefits of chiropractic for disc herniations. This article discusses a 45-year-old patient who had a 2-year history of "chronic mild low back pain and right buttock pain." The patient described a worsening of the radicular pain down her right leg, and also reported intermittent prickling in her right foot. These are all indications of neurological issues, and are serious symptoms.

The woman sought help from a chiropractic physician, who managed the patient with chiropractic adjustments and "advanced myofascial release therapy." The care consisted of 2 weeks of adjustments and an extra month of home exercises and rehabilitation.

The patient reported a "significant improvement in her low back pain and radiculopathy. In addition, she achieved some improvement in balance."

This article confirms what we see in our Westfield, Cicero, Lapel, Fishers and Carmel, IN office: chiropractic is great for cutting down on the pain of disc herniations without medications or high-risk surgery.
